Why a fake commute could pave the way to work-from-home balance

The Washington Post — 23 February 2022

Many people no longer need to commute to their workplace due to the increase in remote work. Going on a fake commute, such as biking in the morning before meetings, can simulate similar effects and benefit mental, physical and social health. Suggestions on how to implement a fake commute include:

  • find the ritual that’s right for you;

  • be strategic about timing - and strive for consistency;

  • leave home if you can;

  • consider including your family;

  • practice role-clarifying prospection;

  • get serious about disconnecting.
