According to Prof. Dr. Jochen Menges, the ability to manage emotions increases career opportunities. This is due to the fact that leaders serve as role models: they have the ability to significantly influence the work environment with their emotional expression. Thus, emotional stability is a crucial trait to consider when thinking about who to promote to a leadership position.
